Weekly/Nightly Rentals in Southern Utah
Weekly/Nightly rental projects are on the rise in Southern Utah. Though St. George City has taken a hard stance on weekly/nightly rentals mixed in with single family residences they have approved 2 new weekly/nightly rental projects in the City since May of 2016. “Our entire city is not a resort,” said Councilman Jimmie Hughes, who said he had no issues with the proposed development and thought it would have been done well but that he felt a responsibility to protect what the residents felt was important about the character of the area. This comment came at a City Council Meeting where a developer was attempting to get his weekly/nightly rental project approved.
Hurricane City passed an ordinance that all of City could use their homes as weekly/nightly rental properties unless otherwise specified in the subdivisions CCR's. After much backlash from residents the ordinance has been amended "in order to balance the right of property owners to use their property in all lawful ways against the right of property owners to the quiet use and enjoyment of their property; and WHEREAS said City Council finds it necessary for the protection and preservation of the public health, safety and welfare".

However, just in the last 2 years there have been several Weekly/Nightly Rental projects approved and/or expanded and have started construction in several different Washington County cities including Washington, Ivins, and Hurricane.
Those projects are:
Town Center at Coral Canyon - Washington City
Casitas At Sienna - Washington City
Stucki Farm Villas - Washington City
Zions Village - Hurricane City
Paradise Village at Zion - Ivins City
Encanto - Ivins City
Estancia Resort - St. George City
Some of the older Weekly/Nightly Rental areas are:
Las Palmas - St. George City
Sports Village - St. George City
